Western blot analysis of mono-methylated histone from melanoma cells with Mono-Methyl (ε-N) Lysine Antibody (anti-mMeK, ICP0518).
Histones were isolated with cold 0.1M HCl extraction.
A: Blot with 0.5 µg/mL of anti-mMeK (ICP0518) in PBSt + 100 µg/mL of methylated BSA (ICP0504)
B: Blot with 0.5 µg/mL of anti-mMeK (ICP0518) in PBSt
Lysine methylation is a common protein post-translational modification, which can be found in may proteins, such as calmodulin, cytochrome C, chromosomal proteins, histones and neural storage body proteins. It is an important biochemical process for many protein-protein interactions. The mono-methylation of lysine has also been suggested to play an important role in gene silencing.
