  • Product Description

This antibody was developed using Thyroxine (T4) linked to the immunogenic carrier protein -KLH conjugates as the immunogen, The T4-specific antibody was affinity purified with antigen-specific affinity chromatography and eluted by competitive free T4. The antibody can be utilized for detection, quantization and affinity isolation and purification of thyroxine.
  • Specificity

The antibody recognizes free thyroxine (T4) and conjugated thyroxine to protein via its alpha amine group. Slightly cross reacted with T3
  • Scientific Description

Thyroxine, also called 3,5,3′,5′-tetraiodothyronine, or T4, one of the two major hormones secreted by thethyroid gland (the other is triiodothyronine). Thyroxine’s principal function is to stimulate the consumption of oxygen and thus the metabolism of all cells and tissues in the body. Thyroxine is formed by the molecular addition of iodine to the amino acid tyrosine while the latter is bound to the protein thyroglobulin. Excessive secretion of thyroxine in the body is known as hyperthyroidism, and the deficient secretion of it is called hypothyroidism
