The antibody is recognizes proteins phosphorylated on their serine residues. There is no cross reaction with phospho-tyrosine.

Serine is one of the 20 naturally occurring amino acids. Kinases phosphorylate serine to form phospho-serine, which is responsible for various signalling processes in eukaryotes.
