Beta (β)-actin is one of the actin isoforms that have been identified in animals. Actins are highly conserved proteins. They are frequently used as an internal standard referring to the amount of cells loaded. The anti-beta-actin antibody is developed using the peptide derived from many animal species, including humans.

The antibody recognizes human β-actin protein as a single band from the whole cell lysate. It also recoginizes other animal species' β-actins that contain the same peptide.
