The Stat1 transcription factor is activated in response to a large number of ligands and is essential for responsiveness to IFN-α and IFN-γ. These antibodies are raised based on the human Stat1 sequence (690-720 aa) and tested in western blotting of human and mouse cell lysate and mouse tissue (spleen) extract to detect Stat1.

STAT1 and STAT2 were the first two STAT (signal transducers and activators of transcription) proteins discovered. They are involved in interferon-alpha (IFN-alpha) and IFN-gamma signal transduction. Other STAT proteins that have been identified are STAT3, 4, 5a, 5b, and 6.[1] Specific functions of the STAT proteins are poorly understood. They are thought to be involved in a variety of systems including antiviral responses and cell transformation. [2]
